San José

Finding us…
San José is situated less than half an hour from Almeria International Airport on a stretch of Spains Mediterranean Coast in the heart of the Parque Natural de Cabo Gata. An attractive and lively pueblo with none of the typical towering concrete blocks of noisy apartments or package tour hotels. The principal coastal town within the Parks limits is also the gateway to the many beaches, coves and bays that stretch several kilometers to the lighthouse at Cabo de Gata.

The Parque…
The coastline of the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata is dramatic. It stretches north for approximately 45 Km from the south-eastern tip of Spain where isolated sandy coves are backed by rugged mountains and black volcanic cliffs plunge vertically into the sea. This is one of the very few areas of the Mediterranean where you can lie undisturbed on a quiet sandy beach without a building in sight. The climate in the region is excellent and the area gets more than 3000 hours of Sunshine each year. If you visit the coves and beaches from October onwards you will often be the only person there enjoying the spectacular seascapes and sunsets. The esparto grass, cactus and prickly pear strewn desert like surroundings in the area have lent themselves to a great number of films, such as :- The good, the bad and the ugly, A fistful of dollars, For a few dollars more and Indiana Jones and the raiders of the lost ark to name just a small selection
